Stove Pipe > Hot Water Heater
I built this hot water heater based on the research below for TAKING STEPS at Barrington Stage in 2017. Set Design by Jason Sherwood. I combined a stove pipe, PVC piping, brass fittings and flanges.
PVC Pipe Telescope
This telescope had to be dropped from 8ft high, over and over and over again for ENDGAME at Williams College in 2015. It was built from PVC piping and connectors, epoxy, plastic magnifying glass bookmarks, and plastic-friendly paint. It could easily telescope in and out for comedic effect. Set Design by David Gurcay-Morris.
1910 Movie Camera
I built this movie camera for RAGTIME at Barrington Stage in 2017. Repurposed crutches for a tripod, added some angle brackets and gold-painted bits and bobs to some wooden boxes, and there you have it! Camera Designed by Brian Prather.
This lotus ottoman was built by the 2018 Props Department at Barrington Stage for world premiere of THE ROYAL FAMILY OF BROADWAY. Set Design (and lotus design) by Alexander Dodge. I lead the team in the plan of execution, seeing it through each step. The lotus leaves were made of 1/4’’ bent steel rod and armature wire, covered in a tight spandex fabric. Each petal was welded, at the base, to a set of steel rings which kept them all in place. The entire piece was constructed to come apart backstage since offstage space was limited. The legs you see on his body are DUMMY LEGS! They were designed to go up, out, and over the back of the actor’s head. Will Swenson (the actor you see here…) is actually kneeling inside a crescent-shaped structure that looks like an ottoman from the audience. He wore a belt that kept the pants and the fabric from the ottoman securely around his waist with a large parachute buckle at the back.
