Light-up Tech Bins
I devised the Barrington Stage Prop Department’s travel tech bins. Circa 2017.
The crafting area I arranged as Costume Shop Manager in 2016.
The White Board of Success!
This is a snapshot of what our white board looks like during one week in the height of the season at Barrington Stage Co. I have a color coding system, and do assignments by date in advance so my team knows what to expect. Prioritizing is KEY!
Costumes on Tour
This is a system of organization I created for keeping costumes in order while traveling the country. The American Shakespeare Center’s touring company brings three shows in rep wherever they go, and needed some structure implemented for how they pack and travel with dozens of costumes. Three large rolling wardrobes, all color-coded by show, and breathable garment bags for each actor, for each show. There were inventory lists, and color coded hangers. Even breathable shoe organization in color-coded bags.
At the American Shakespeare Center, hundreds of costumes move in and out of storage all year. Their storage is located above the Blackfriars Stage, thus is called “The Heavens”. Very often, costumers with varying levels of knowledge will be responsible for restocking. I created a map/organization system, which assists in locating where clothing should be stored, based on time period. Each color dot represents a time in history, and clothing articles are divided up by male and female. If you are restocking a show from the 18th century, look for the appropriate color dot and there you go! (Video tour of the map is coming soon!)
